Internship and Leadership Development!
All residents of public housing and Section 8 recipients are eligible to participate in the program. The program requires 10 hours per week of learning, organizing, and working to improve our community, and an on-going commitment to improving your neighborhood. Interns earn a stipend of $15.00 per hour for 6 months, from mid-fall to mid-spring. We are always recruiting for the next internship!
The program follows a curriculum that begins with learning about each other and our community. We then “get deep” into HUD and CRHA policies, learn about effective organizing and then craft an organizing campaign based on the needs of fellow residents, and hit the streets to make change in the community. Throughout the program we will work on
- Skills building,
- Employment readiness,
- Setting goals,
- Public speaking,
- Learning about community resources, and
- Support PHAR’s work in the community.
PHAR interns are a visible and important part of what makes us tick. If you are dedicated to helping your community WE WANT YOU!!!
