PHAR works to fulfill our mission of providing community education and organizing to empower low-income residents to protect and improve our own communities through collective action every day. This year, we knocked on over 175 doors to learn about residents’ concerns. We then developed a maintenance campaign and identified solutions to residents’ top priority issues. The PHAR intern team and organizers met with the Housing Authority and shared concerns and solutions. Major changes were implemented, and residents report significant improvements! Maintenance is a challenging issue in buildings that haven’t been adequately funded for decades, but we are proud of the changes implemented in response to PHAR’s work.
PHAR needs you to stand up, speak up, speak up, and act out to protect and improve our public housing communities!
